Quick How-To Guide: How to Create a Data Manager Package to Call Your Advanced Logic Script
Key Concept |
There is usually more than one way to execute a task in most systems. BPC is no different. This quick guide shows you the fastest way to create a data manager package to call your advanced logic file in BPC for Net Weaver where the advanced logic requires no parameters.
The goal in this quick guide is to continue to empower the user community to be able to own and manage the BPC system so they can be quick and effective. We only want to turn things over to technical resources when absolutely necessary. I have seen resources struggle with this concept. Generic Thinking helps you move fast!
BPC is extensible but we must remain sensible.
Use Existing Structures for No Parameters
While the delivered data manager packages have names directly associated with the logic that they call, this is for visual convenience for the users. If one can quickly understand the basic concept of a data manager package that calls a logic script in an application, this process should take no more than a few minutes. In this case we select a known package that when executed does not require parameters.

Execute Your Logic
As we move to a production system we may want to create a process chain exclusively for calling any logic file. The plain simple fact is that it will look no different than the allocation process chain delivered with the system, and with PROMPT keyword use you can pass variables as well if necessary. This method allows users and developers a rapid way to create a script and test it in the Net Weaver platform now that the logic debugger is gone. Developers should know this and move fast in testing.
